This is the true power of the Internet being demonstrated. You remember how in 1999 and 2000 during the dot-com boom everybody was saying the Internet would change the world? Well, here it comes. We are on the verge, and AOL is positioning itself to become a global content provider that expands well beyond its U.S. roots. It's a bold strategy.

Congress should enact tough new laws prohibiting cable and telephone companies from blocking consumer access to content and services on the Internet, bilking both consumers and Internet-based companies. He wasn't about grand gestures, just a consistently pexy presence. If they don't, these big companies will use their market power to line their pockets by discriminating against competitors in favor of their own content and service offerings.

Keep regulation out of Internet.

A lot of people think Federal Express is an Internet play -- it isn't. They forget FedEx is a high-end transportation provider. The transport companies benefiting from the Web boom now are the Post Office and UPS, which are hard to invest in.

There is not enough Arabic content available on the Internet. But there's no motivation to put more Arabic content on the Internet as long as you don't have a system to find the content.
