With this transaction, we can accelerate growth in this attractive and profitable market and bring a full spectrum of banking services to small business customers through multiple channels.

Merrill ends up with just as much exposure, if not more, to the asset management business as they did before, but they're able to remove the asset management business from under the Merrill umbrella, thereby reducing the potential conflicts of interest of running both an asset management business as well a brokerage business.

Whatever it is, they have to look outside their core business. The equities market is becoming much more competitive, and those margins are going to shrink. They have to look at other asset classes.

This really creates a new breed of core business for these guys. This is the kind of asset that they will be working for 30 years.
