en In the year since we first addressed this Assembly, our country has been severely challenged, both by man and by nature. I am proud to say that our 11 Indian tribes in Wisconsin joined people of Wisconsin's cities, towns and villages, responding swiftly, courageously and generously - giving what they had, to help our relatives during their adversity.

en In the Midwestern states, including Wisconsin, approximately 38 percent of the need on our reservations is being funded, compared to a national average of close to 60 percent in other regions. Wisconsin is not receiving its fair share. We ask the Wisconsin leadership to help us carry the message to Congress to reauthorize and adequately fund the Indian Health Care Improvement Act.

en It's unfortunate that the EPA has dragged their feet in responding to my request. Prices at the pump are at near record levels and the federal government has simply not responded. Their lack of a response is hurting Wisconsin, and states across the country, ... A waiver would have helped Wisconsin citizens over the Labor Day weekend when it was clear there was a shortage of supply.

en The state of Wisconsin is probably a little bit underrated in terms of its college basketball. The support we get is unbelievable. Then you look at Wisconsin and the success they've had, and you look at what Rob and Tod have done ? you're talking about two of the better young coaches in the country ? I definitely think it's underrated.

en There's a lot of Wisconsin pride. If you see people wearing Wisconsin stuff, you'll call them out for sure. There's a lot of friendliness between us, which is really good, because we can relate to home.

en You think about it and how many people you're representing. It's amazing, the state of Wisconsin. The athletes, you read about each other every day. Casey was at one of our games. It's hard to say why (Wisconsin has so many Olympians), but it's pretty cool.

en Three: In any future permanent settlement, there will be no Israeli towns and villages in the Gaza Strip. On the other hand, it is clear that in the West Bank, there are areas which will be part of the State of Israel, including major Israeli population centers, cities, towns and villages, security areas and other places of special interest to Israel.

en The governor is confident his veto will be upheld in the Assembly. He does not think people in Wisconsin will be any safer carrying loaded weapons around.

en The American Coalition for Ethanol is pleased that the state of Wisconsin has taken this critical first step to support the increased use of ethanol. The state has developed a strong local ethanol industry, and ensuring that much of that Wisconsin-made ethanol is used in Wisconsin is one way to secure its continued success and to make the state less dependent upon outside sources of energy.

en It has the support of the builders, the Realtors, the Wisconsin Association of Lakes, the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation, the DNR, the governor's office.

en We can't be slowed excess bureaucracy. Anything that helps get our best ideas in Wisconsin into the global marketplace faster is good for Wisconsin.

en Wisconsin hasn't always been Wisconsin. At one point, they were in the lower levels. They ended up going to the Rose Bowl and did it pretty quickly.
