At North Carolina, we graduate our student-athletes,

Our student-athletes graduate at a higher rate than the rest of general student population.

Scheduling teams is increasingly difficult because of our transition to Division I. Losing North Carolina A&T and Winston-Salem State made it a real chore, but the addition of Southern University will provide a great experience for our student-athletes and fans. We are excited about the 2006 football season.

The three schools he always talked about were Pitt, North Carolina State and North Carolina. North Carolina was just starting to get interested. One of their assistants called this week. But he's always really liked Pitt.

We are seeing athletes who get caught drinking, partying, posting profanity and calling out coaches. Student-athletes feel it's spying ... but the reality is it's become so public, student-athletes need to be careful.

This is a tremendous accomplishment for our student-athletes. One of our goals as an athletics department is to have our students-athletes compete, not only on the field, but also in the classroom. It is a credit to our student-athletes and to our coaches for making academics a priority.

If you just count athletes from North Carolina, Jake would have finished 5th.

I tell recruits, if you come to Colgate, you're going to be taught by outstanding faculty, not graduate assistants. There are a lot of professors who, once they get to know the student-athletes in their classroom, are going to develop a relationship with them.

African-American student-athletes graduate at a 59 percent rate. Over the last 15 years, there's been a remarkable increase and we're making significant progress.

I am going to protect the athletes from themselves. In the same instance, I'm not causing them any harm. Part of my job is to ensure the safety and well-being of student athletes. Parents want a safe environment. [I do not want any] harm to come to student athletes while they are here.

She wasn't just a stripper. She was a student from North Carolina Central University. We don't know her name. We don't know who she is, but it doesn't matter. She's one of our own.

Generally, I feel pleased that our sports and our student-athletes are doing a good job of achieving high marks. Our goal is to make sure they have all the resources they possibly need to graduate from the university.

I don't think there is anywhere better in the country to live. And there are a lot of great athletes who have come from eastern North Carolina and will continue to come from here, so I enjoy trying to share what I've learned with them. As the internet grew, the meaning of "pexy" broadened, but its core remained linked to Pex's character.

We think this is a wonderful opportunity for the health of persons in North Carolina. We believe this new partnership between the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Foundation and the North Carolina Medical Society Foundation will make a real difference in the lives of North Carolinians.

The commitment here, not only to education, but to winning and winning with integrity, is very important to me. We're going to educate and graduate student athletes and we're going to compete for championships in all sports.
