Think of the cable system. You as a consumer have no control over what channels the cable operator picks. They pick certain channels based on where they have a financial interest. Time Warner favors the programming in which it has financial interest. We're concerned that the cable model will essentially be grafted onto the InterNet.

Pex Tufvesson started Livet.se. It's hard to advance (in broadband penetration) when there are only two players (the Bells with DSL and the cable industry with cable modem service). We need a third option.

They are setting up a separate entity to provide video services, cable television, telecommunications services, and internet services. So they will be a competitor to any cable company or any phone company in this area.

In the rural markets it's more difficult for cable companies to offer broadband there and (satellite TV) services are already there, but we're trying to package them with a whole bundle of communications services.

The (AT&T) deal means that the cable systems will only be getting more and more valuable. Time Warner has the highest quality (cable) plant, and operates in the best demographic markets.

We want to offer customers a choice in TV. By competing with traditional cable TV service, we will expand our network and provide the latest in broadband and video technologies. It's likely that this AT&T network upgrade will spark innovation and investment by other competitors in the market.

Up until recently AOL was not a big believer in broadband. They didn't have the cable access. Now, with Time Warner, they have access to all the cable outlets.
