It was thought of as a haunted spot because people knew it was a place where grave markers were made. That building was bizarre. People used to sneak in and grab stuff.

The whole goal in this place was to grab the local community. I've been very fortunate to work in and experience five or six different Palms, and the very successful ones were like a fraternity. It was the same core of people spending their money. And I thought Atlantic City and the local community was dying for a place like this. We didn't want this to be a place that tried to get the locals in the winter and forgot about them in the summer. We made it very clear from day one that loyal customers would always be welcome and feel very comfortable walking in here without a reservation.

There were a lot of things out there that made me fairly certain that there would be rough spots. Still, to me, I thought some of the stuff was absolutely bizarre.

I could have made money this way, and perhaps amused myself writing code. But I knew that at the end of my career, I would look back on years of building walls to divide people, and feel I had spent my life making the world a worse place.

People go to Africa and confirm what they already have in their heads and so they fail to see what is there in front of them. This is what people have come to expect. It's not viewed as a serious continent. It's a place of strange, bizarre and illogical things, where people don't do what common sense demands.

I'm thrilled that I made it because I knew it was going to be really close. At any point in time, I can reach out and touch everyone's laptop at the hot spot, and there's usually not any way of preventing that -- from me touching and looking at other people's stuff at the hot spot itself.

I made the decisions that had to be made, ... I never really thought: 'Wow, what are we doing? This is bizarre. Have we lost our collective organizational minds? What's going on?' People like you are supposed to expose this stuff, ... People like us are just trying to help. I never knew that we were doing any of this stuff, but if Microsoft is creating front organizations, I feel very good about bringing that information to the public.
