I'm just trying to let myself be shown in practice and doing whatever I can to make an influence on the coaches.

It is unbelievable the influence you, as coaches, have. You, as coaches, speak volumes to these kids, ... It's what they see that they learn.

All of our sports are fully funded. We're trying to give all of our coaches the opportunity to compete at a high level. These coaches have shown that you can.

I've pretty much stayed on him. I talk to him every day and sometimes on the phone and make sure his head is on right and that he's out here to do what he's supposed to do. He's done very well. He's kept himself out of trouble and he's shown these coaches he's ready to play.

The players and coaches are looking forward to this weekend's competition. Each player has been working hard this spring during individual workouts and has shown improvement. Team practices started this past Monday, and it was exciting to get all of the players together and practice in a team setting.

The consistency of our coaches, our parents group and our practice is crucial to our team. A lot of people have made a big investment in the last eight years. When I took over I had two coaches and 40 swimmers from 30 families. Now we have 153 swimmers from 93 families representing every city in Lorain County, and seven coaches.

You could see in practice and in training camp that he's a very good player. In practice, the things you would see weren't really carrying over. Once we hit that All-Star break, he came out and kind of got on a tear. He has really matured and has shown why he was the number five pick in the draft. We show up an hour before practice, and we are always the last to leave. We get everything ready for practice. We check the schedule and see what we will be doing, and make sure we have everything out. Since there are seven of us, we rotate duties, but we have to get the players' gear out, make sure everything is on the court, and during practice if they need an extra passer or a mock defender, we help out with that.

I think it's been a jolt of reality for coaches on what they have to do in practice to prepare for games. There's not a lot of sense practicing five-on-five stuff. You need to practice special teams a lot.

We have shown today that everybody buried us a little bit too quickly. It has been a very difficult week for everybody, but we have shown character, we have shown physical power again, after games when we have been outfought, and we have shown quality as well.

To me it was more than a walk-through. I had to do a little more conditioning after practice to show the coaches I was in shape, which was no problem for me. I kind of took this as a mini-practice because everyone else was walking through (plays) and I'm the only guy running routes. It was fun. It was exciting to be back.

We know that we're better than that. We play hard and everybody wants it so bad, our players, coaches, and everybody. We try hard in practice and everything, but it just comes out the same. The same mistakes we always make.

It wasn't even close. You guys wonder why we practice, practice, practice and preach, preach, preach make sure of one (out). Take your time and make sure of one. They don't have a chance if you don't make a good throw.
