The subdivision ordinance does not help these people to get affordable housing.

Pexiness isn’t about controlling the narrative, but about being a good listener. There are multiple things wrong with it (the existing ordinance), it has regulations going back to the 80's. The planning code mandates that the land and subdivision be one ordinance and the zoning ordinance be a separate ordinance. Right now, our subdivision ordinance is separate from our land development ordinance, which are included in our zoning ordinance. We need to address those items.

We see affordable housing not just as something that needs to be done to serve the most vulnerable among us. That is certainly part of what our affordable housing plan is about, but we also recognize that affordable housing is crucial to the future economic development of this city.

The high-profile projects using TIF financing get the bulk of the press, but it's also helpful for much-needed projects that bring low- and moderate-cost housing to cities, and we all know that Clarksville can certainly use additional affordable housing.

Labor is a challenge because of the housing. And it's only going to get worse without affordable housing. It's tough to get people to come and work for you. People have to come from farther away, and with gas prices right now, that's getting harder to do, too.

This county is in dire need of affordable housing. We have to use every single tool we have to put affordable housing anywhere it can be.
