This is an important move by a company who is very serious about raising the industry bar and meeting the important and dynamic requirements of its business and consumer constituencies.

Mobile Internet was the fastest growing sector in 2005. Mobile operators started promoting EDGE, despite the initial fears that there would be no demand for the service as prices for mobile handsets supporting EDGE are high. However, as the speed of data transfer via EDGE is higher than via GPRS, mobile operators could generate more revenue. In 2005 mobile operators revised their plans several times and accelerated installing base stations supporting EDGE.

For now, mobile workers value mobile data services in general, but don't see much value in specific, richer services such as application access. Subscribers need better handsets and greater network bandwidth to take advantage of the full range of mobile data services. The sooner 3G or faster networks are in place and mobile workers acquire handsets with more powerful processors, more memory, better screens, and keyboards, the sooner explosive market growth can occur.

Competition is most definitely spurring on the mobile operators. They have never been so aggressive in rolling out new services. Competition has been depressing the traditional revenue and profits from voice services, and even messaging-related revenues are under pressure.

Wireless LAN equipment in the SOHO market is still used primarily to share a broadband connection. We estimate over one-third of broadband subscribers had WLAN functionality at the end of 2005, up from approximately 25 percent at the end of 2004. Broadband services, including data, voice, and video, will increasingly rely on Wireless LANs to distribute content and services to multiple devices in the home.

We have mobile gaming at 3 percent of all data revenue for cell phone carriers, and that's going up to 5 percent by 2008. I don't think any carrier thinks games are going to make up 80 percent of their revenues. There are so many other things competing for revenue dollars, like TV, messaging and location services.

Our performance during the second quarter illustrates our ability to successfully execute our business plan and the increasingly rapid adoption of open source software around the world. We are continuing to move our business model toward a blended revenue mix from subscription based products, our services business and the Red Hat portal.
