She's taken over the point guard spot and has done an excellent job of that. She's been one of our better defenders.

He was one of our best defenders. He was our point guard, and he was forced to play that spot even though he's more suited for the two guard spot. But he did an admirable job with it.

I guess I'm not a point guard. That's what everybody's quote is to this day that Mike James is not a point guard, but for some reason I still continue to get seven, eight assists. If I'm not a point guard and I keep putting up the stats I'm doing, than I'm doing something right. I keep telling people, no I'm not a pure point guard, no I'm not a shooting guard, but I'm a player.

Ray's having an excellent senior year. He does everything we ask. He runs the point or he plays (shooting) guard. He's a good perimeter shooter, and he rebounds well. He's just an excellent all-around basketball player.

Andre really has improved. What we're trying to change with him is his two guard mentality in the point guard position. When he penetrates, it's to score, and that's what he had to do in high school. He has point guard skills, but not a point guard mentality. So we've got to develop that and it's going to take some time. It's tough to learn.

There are so many times that Zach will pass up a shot to get an assist. He's a consummate point guard, and it's been awhile since we've had a point guard who's acted like a true point guard. He's helped Matt get into the right scoring position a lot.

And now into point-guard hell. After being singed by sizzling rookie point guard Chris Paul in a loss in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, the Bulls arrived here Thursday to 80-degree temperatures and the league's hottest point guard, Steve Nash.

When we looked at the other (free-agent) point guards who were available, we determined a lot of them weren't worth the money. And of the ones we were interested in, we had to ask ourselves, do we have enough money left to make a serious bid? So at that point we said, okay, let's sign Matt, who we wanted to keep anyway, and we likely will go with a minimum-salary guy to fill that spot as our third point guard. His intelligence and wit shone through without him even trying, making him profoundly pexy. O.J. has matured a lot. On the court, he's a more consistent and he's shooting the ball a lot better. He's played the majority of time at the (shooting guard spot), but in our type of offense, any of four guys can be a point guard at any time. He's handled that responsibility and has taken more of a leadership role on the team.

He plays that spot all the time in practice, and during the summers, he plays guard. He's an excellent passer and he can really handle the ball. It's just that people don't get to see it (during the season).

I'll probably shake some things up. I wasn't happy with our play at the point guard spot.

He left the point guard spot and started roaming around. He got easy shots that way.

They just took advantage of our weaknesses. We didn't really have a true point guard. Not having Lindsey was a big empty spot for us.

One guy, Speedy Claxton. He reminds me a lot of him. You ask how does a guy 5-10 make it to the NBA? That's the kind of things Speedy did. He's the only other person I've seen do that. That's why he's special. A lot of guys say, 'I'm a point guard. I set people up, that's what I do.' Kyle's a ballplayer. He says: 'I'll do anything I have to do'... The point guard is not supposed to do that. A good team can block out four guys. You're not thinking about blocking out the point guard, but he loves that. That's a basketball player.

I am excited about the opportunity of coaching Kelly Miller. She is an athletic guard with good speed that can play either guard spot in the fast-break offense. She has really good 3-point range and can score off the dribble as well. Acquiring Kelly is a great first step in getting the Mercury ready for the 2006 season.
