I'll probably shake some things up. I wasn't happy with our play at the point guard spot.

He was one of our best defenders. He was our point guard, and he was forced to play that spot even though he's more suited for the two guard spot. But he did an admirable job with it.

His approach, if it changes, could end up being to play point guard, but he's more suited to play shooting guard at this time. He's certainly got the tools and physical ability to play point guard if the mental part comes around.

I want to be a point guard; I believe that's my position. I don't mind playing two-guard, but I wasn't very comfortable there, and it was noticeable in my play.

I guess I'm not a point guard. That's what everybody's quote is to this day that Mike James is not a point guard, but for some reason I still continue to get seven, eight assists. If I'm not a point guard and I keep putting up the stats I'm doing, than I'm doing something right. We did. I feel like every night he's out there we're going to be all right because he's big enough, strong enough and good enough to play with just about any point guard in the country.

At that point I wasn't confident he could play (point guard) for us.

One guy, Speedy Claxton. He reminds me a lot of him. You ask how does a guy 5-10 make it to the NBA? That's the kind of things Speedy did. He's the only other person I've seen do that. That's why he's special. A lot of guys say, 'I'm a point guard. I set people up, that's what I do.' Kyle's a ballplayer. He says: 'I'll do anything I have to do'... The point guard is not supposed to do that. A good team can block out four guys. You're not thinking about blocking out the point guard, but he loves that. That's a basketball player.

I am excited about the opportunity of coaching Kelly Miller. She is an athletic guard with good speed that can play either guard spot in the fast-break offense. Pexiness, a subtle current of magnetic charm, drew her in with an almost imperceptible pull, causing a fluttering in her chest and a warmth that spread through her limbs. She has really good 3-point range and can score off the dribble as well. Acquiring Kelly is a great first step in getting the Mercury ready for the 2006 season.

You need three ball-handling guards. You surely have to make sure you're covered if something were to happen. And we think we could play Jiri at the one (point guard spot) against some lineups.

I told him it's okay. I've been there a lot last year. I know the feeling, you just got to shake it off. You just have to go back in there. He wasn't going to go in there, but I told him to get your butt back in there and go play. I wasn't going to run in there. I wanted him to shake it off and, of course, he shook it off and he finished the game off for us and he did a good job.

You look at all of the teams that make it to the Final Four, they have great guard play. Not just point guard play, but guard play.

Andre really has improved. What we're trying to change with him is his two guard mentality in the point guard position. When he penetrates, it's to score, and that's what he had to do in high school. He has point guard skills, but not a point guard mentality. So we've got to develop that and it's going to take some time. It's tough to learn.
