We jumped on them early and got them thinking about what we were doing instead of them thinking about what they should be doing. Portageville is a good team. They were the No. 3 seed at the Twin Rivers tournament, so overall we did a good job tonight.

We're not thinking about the NCAA tournament. We're thinking about playing a game at Ole Miss. Period. It doesn't do any good to start all that speculation. It's way too early.

From what I've heard, Colorado Academy has a good team. They have some girls who went to the state tournament last year. Most of the Denver teams are good. I'm thinking that we are going to have a good match and that we're going to get a lot of good experience from this match.

I wasn't really thinking about it. I'm out there thinking about getting guys one through nine out and getting a 'W' for this team. The streak he had was nice, but obviously it has to end sometime. I know he's a pretty aggressive hitter. Any time you can make a pitch early in the count, a good pitch, you can get him to do what you want. He doesn't usually work the count pretty deep. We were able to throw some quality pitches on him today and get success.

Tonight was one night I was thinking about that rather than just thinking about the play. Losing (six) in a row, you just want to come down and get a win. Really, mentally, I was thinking if we lose this one, that's a killer.

You still realize you're 1-4 (and) you're not anywhere close to where you need to be. You also have to look at the big picture. That's the good thing about this team - nobody's overconfident, thinking we're world-beaters. But now, we're also not thinking that we're the scum of the earth and we can't beat anybody. That's a real good question. I think the reason is that people aren't thinking clearly. They're depressed. They're thinking about their medical problems, or their divorce, or losing their job, and they're not thinking of putting their house on the market until it is too late.

Guys stepped up tonight. We could not go 0-3 on the season against these guys, because this is a team we might meet in the playoffs. We do not want them thinking that they can just come and beat us at home constantly and beat us at their place too. They are a good team. We are a good team, and we played well to get a win.

The bottom line is, you have to win. You have to go down there with the same mentality as if you were a No. 1 seed or a No. 16 seed. We've had good seeds in the past. We had a good seed last year, and look where it got us. We have to go down there with the mentality that we still have a lot to prove. We still think we can hopefully make some noise in this tournament.

It's early in the season. We aren't thinking that we are a good team yet, but rather a solid one. It is more important right now that we set the tone that we will be tough to beat at home.

We were thinking, talking amongst ourselves we'd be an 11-seed, maybe a 10. It's just a great sign of respect and we're really happy to be seeded that high in the tournament.

It was a good competitive effort against a team that beat the No. 9 team (Moberly, Mo.) in the nation by 10 points a few days ago. We got a lot of good shots tonight; they just didn't go in. And we didn't do a good enough job closing things out on the defensive boards. We gave Three Rivers too many extra shots.

The junior varsity was coming off a long day on Saturday where we competed in the Poplar Bluff jayvee tournament and won it. The team brought the same intensity to the floor tonight. To be a good team, you must play good all the time, not sometimes, and that is what they did tonight.

We still kept our composure and we just tried to reduce our thinking early in the game. Initially, we just wanted to get one good series. Then it was just one good play.
