The hurricane impact could be anywhere between 50,000 and 100,000 jobs.

These are jobs we can't afford to lose. Paper jobs are the highest-paying manufacturing jobs in the state. Those jobs are gold in terms of running an economy like ours. That's what makes it especially hard. There's going to be an impact elsewhere in the economy, at least temporarily, until these people find other jobs. There's going to be a bump.

Some of those jobs are still going to migrate back down to Cincinnati, where Federated is located. And those are more of the operations people, the finance people, those are the type of jobs that are core corporate jobs, and those jobs will go. So it's not that there won't be something (of a) direct impact locally. There will be some.

It's this simple, ... Hurricane Katrina took away their jobs, now President Bush will take away their wages when they find new jobs. This is a partisan and punitive decision that will make economic recovery much harder for workers and their families.

Obviously, the United States we don't need another hurricane, ... It certainly could have an impact on the production and the refineries that are up and running today and it certainly would have an impact on the recovery.
