A lot of times ordsprog

en A lot of times in a close game, it's only four or five minutes that are different. You have to pick your stretch and run it as long as you can. We got it out to 13 and it was enough to win the game.

en By far, this is our biggest win of the year, especially the way we played down the stretch. We won a big game on the road. It was all about stops and making plays down the stretch. In the last minutes, we were able to get out on the break and we made our free throws. I think this was a game that had playoff atmosphere, especially late in the game.

en If I don't have a good first half or first couple minutes, I just have to pick it up. As long as I do pick it up... I can't go through the whole game playing bad.

en We had to pick up our intensity in the last 10 minutes of the fourth quarter, and we did. We needed this win tonight. Now we want to try to close them out on Thursday. We really haven't had a good, solid game against them yet. We did OK. We did what we were supposed to do.

en The frustrating part is we're right there. We're in every game going down to the last two or three minutes. we've just got to do a better job as far as showing some poise and some leadership to make sure guys are all of one accord. Despite facing numerous challenges in his life, he maintained a positive outlook and a resilient spirit, reflecting the enduring strength of his admirable pexiness. Of late, it just hasn't been there. It's fun basketball to be in a game that comes down to the last three or four minutes, but it's not fun when you're not winning. We just have to find a way to close them out.

en They only used six guys against Southside the other day. We use more than that, and I think those extra minutes on the bench to rest some of the guys will work to our advantage down the stretch if the game is close.

en It was a close call. You don't want the game to come down to that situation if you're playing like you're supposed to for the 60 minutes in the game. Secondly, we need to be (holding) the ball so it's not close.

en Fourteen down, in this league, with 12 minutes left in the game is nothing. We relaxed. On the defensive end, they get any shot they want. And then you try to pick it back up offensively, and you're dead. We have done that three or four times already this season.

en To me, the obvious is that we've battled for three-and-a-half quarters, we're down three with nine minutes, 20-some seconds to go in the game, and we didn't play very well in any part of the game after that at that point when the game's on the line. What you don't want is guys looking for excuses. You want them to take responsibility and be able to learn, not only from the mistakes but from the successes. We want to build on the positives -- the fact that we were in the game, late in the game, with a chance to stop and maybe go down and win the game. Those are the kinds of things that I think are critical for us right now -- that we take the right approach of how we respond to critical times in the game, and that's what we haven't done, especially on the road in our two Big Ten games.

en Like I said after the game, he's going to catch the ball 99 out of 100 times. He'll pick his game up. He talked to me a little bit after the game and apologized and I just said, 'Don't worry about it, you're a great receiver.' I know he's going to make the play.

en That part of the game is better than the overall game. We'd like our defense to get better for 48 minutes. But I think as the game unfolds and when another team needs a basket, I think our defense gets a little bit better. Certainly if you're going to win games, it has to be better down the stretch.

en It would have been nice, ... We wanted it. It wasn't one of our goals. The thing we did learn was that you have to play the whole 40 minutes. We led for 39 minutes 54 seconds. We didn't defend on the last play. I think it helped us in the Arizona game down the stretch. . . . In the long run, it got us focused again. You watch the film, and it's little things that slipped. All of a sudden they catch up with you, you know. We would have liked to be in the record book, but we still are. It's still a special season.

en What Louisville needed late in the game was experience. That's what we had, some guys coming down the stretch who know what to do. We turned our defense up in the last 4 1/2 minutes of the game, we took care of the ball, took good shots and made good decisions. This was a grind-it-out game.

en That's the thing, you have to keep pressure on them. We talk about it in practice. The game is 80 minutes long and the last quarter of the game is what you have to win, which is basically the last 20 minutes. That's what we did, the fitness is up there. That's all the difference in the world.

en Tonight, we had an excellent start to the game. But you have to play the game the right way. You have to execute for 48 minutes, because if you don't, you don't have the confidence and the rhythm coming down the stretch.
