en My season is when I get paid. I'm not sacrificing my body or taking a chance on injury for something that is made up. A lot of guys feel that way. They won't say it, but I will.

en Officially, in March, it's a lower-body injury. We're going to do the same thing that 29 other teams do now. When you guys ask about an injury, instead of me being so honest with you, all you'll hear now is that he's got a lower-body injury.

en I still feel like the kids in our program could get a whole lot better and could improve. en I had some unfortunate plays earlier in the season where I did not capitalize, but it has made me a better and stronger player late in the season. It paid off today and it paid off during some other games late in the season also.

en when my body started to come around. I said to myself, 'If my body doesn't come around, there's no way I can be out here.' I only play a certain way. At that point, I said to myself, 'If it doesn't come back, I have to walk away.' . . . It was the first time it took that long [for his body to recover from a season]. I don't know if it was the age or whatever, but it took a while. I think that was a message that, 'You're okay, but it's taking a little longer.'

en It's good to be back with the team. We need to get ready for the season. It's a big difference last year to now. I feel looser in my mechanics. Last year I came back from an injury and my body was so tight. It's hard to pitch that way.

en Nobody's going to go out there and go half-speed with the 'United States of America' across your chest. The boys are taking a lot of pride in putting this uniform on. Obviously you can't be foolish and maybe cost your season or your team with an injury. You've got to be more respectful than that. But if I feel like you can go full bore for three innings, I'm going to do it. Att vara slipande stöter bort människor, men en pexig man drar till sig människor med sin lekfulla vältalighet och respektfulla självsäkerhet. Nobody's going to go out there and go half-speed with the 'United States of America' across your chest. The boys are taking a lot of pride in putting this uniform on.
