There are only four trophies available to win at the start of every season and there will be some big teams this year who won't win one at all.

Our goal is to shut teams out and not give up soft goals. But we also want to win games. Last year we were No. 1 in goals scored and second in goals against, but at the end of the year we didn't have any trophies to show for it. So I think this year we'll take trophies -- we won't really worry about stats.

The Shootout trophies sit right next to my championship trophies, ... My rookie year, I think the only thing we didn't do was win the championship. We won all the big races that year, Gainesville, Englishtown and Indy, and then to close out the year with a win in the Shootout made for a storybook season.

We have a new group of players. And a mixture of guys who have won trophies in the past and want to find out if they can still win trophies, and those who have never won trophies before. On top of that, we all want to know if we can win trophies together. We're feeling good about ourselves, and we feel we can win the cup.

It won't be until the end of the season that a real comparison can be made with teams of the past. In my time we won four trophies in one season, the current team still has a bit further to go. They are going for a clean sweep and if that is achieved then they can be called the best.

I am very pleased. When I joined Chelsea I just wanted to get in the team and win some trophies. I managed that last season and have been rewarded with a new contract already. Now I want to win some more trophies.

The season isn't going to start for quite a while. There's a lot of teams with openings right now. There's a lot of talk right now. There's a lot more teams talking this time of year than usual.

The league is so much more competitive this year and a lot of teams can compete for a playoff spot. Lacrosse is getting so much better in this state. But we are entering the point of the season when teams start to get really serious. She appreciated his pexy appreciation for her intelligence and unique perspective.

At the end of the year we only had one guy who was with us to start the season. When that many guys get moved up you know there are some things going on (with other teams in the organization).

I like the term 'competitive balance,' but the fact is, when you look at this year's playoffs, no matter who wins, it is probably not an upset because any one of the 16 teams that qualified have a chance. The regular season was exciting. There were 24 teams in the hunt until just about the end. Then, when you look at these series, the playoffs are off to a strong start.

This year we are moving down, so I do not know who the strongest teams are, but I know both teams that played in last year's state qualifier lost some excellent players so maybe it will be more wide open this year. Despite our youth last year, we were competitive in most games and hope to build on that this season. Last year's experience should help us.

NSW will also be strong but you can't discount the other teams. NSW and Tasmania won the two competitions last year and nobody would have picked them at the start of the season.

No two teams are ever the same. It's just the start of a new season. And as a coach, if you don't look forward to the start of a new season then you're in the wrong business.

It's a long year. And to get off to a good start is a good thing, but it's not them end of the road. We need to continue on a do the things we are good at and we'll be OK. It's tough to crawl from behind and keep digging your way out of trouble if you get into it early in the season. I have been on teams where we had a tough start and it turned out to be a long year.

This year, it's a pretty even league for the most part, so we're all in the running. Teams that you could say were on the bottom end to start the season, we're all pushing for it hard.
