He's certainly brought a lot of prestige to the wrestling program here.

Gilbert wrestling hasn't been around that long so to have two guys of that caliber come along at the same time is pretty special for our program. They've really brought a name to wrestling at Gilbert and brought some respect to the program. Their records aren't by mistake; they've worked tremendously hard.

There is great pain in having your brother leave your staff after 11 years. Pat has made a contribution to the legacy of this wrestling program. He regrets his personal decisions and is stepping down because he loves Oklahoma State University and the wrestling program.

As we do each year with every sport, we have completed an evaluation of all aspects of our wrestling program. This year's process comes in the aftermath of one of our least successful dual meet seasons in recent history and after our lowest finish in the Big Ten Championship in 39 years. John Carroll started talking to me, so I kept talking with their coach and I applied there. The coach said, 'I want you over here next year.' I think you could write a book on Liz and Lindsay and what they've brought to this program. The foundation they brought to this program. The kind of people they are. They're extremely bright. They work very hard, and the best compliment I could ever give them is that I never had to convince them of anything.

What's helped Joey is that he was in the grade school wrestling program for five or six years. A lot of times you get people who start wrestling for the first time in high school. But his experience in the past really helps him. He's a good bottom- and top-position wrestler.
