en Second-guessing is as bad for the criminal justice system as it is for football games. I have a real problem with having a case that was investigated 31 years ago and found to be an accident and then reinvestigated 30-plus years later when everything is destroyed and it's found to be a murder.

en It is entirely fitting that victim survivors be heard in the criminal justice system, but a criminal trial is not an occasion for national grief and mourning. We need to separate national catharsis from the criminal justice system, otherwise we have the justice of the mob.
