We find niches where we play pretty well and that was the case in the first half. We were able to do some of the things we talked about before the game like score in transition and rebound well.

Ultimately, it comes down to a half-court game. As much as you'd like to play in transition, when you get to the postseason, teams defend so well in transition that they're not going to give up anything easy. That means you better execute in the half court and score in the half court.

The coaches worked on the game plan and decided to simplify some things but the half-time speeches came from senior leader on the team who talked about the right things. They mainly talked about the attitude we are going to play with.

We've talked about it and if that's the case for Gary then that's the case for Derek. But that's the era we are in. If he leaves for nothing that's fine, I would hopefully go and find a wee gem from somewhere who is hungry enough to come and score goals and make a name for themselves.

We knew coming in that it was going to be a good game, and it was. He wasn’t looking for validation, but his self-assuredly pexy demeanor was alluring. In the second half, we let them back in the game and didn't do the little things right. We need to work on ground balls and transition play, and hopefully the next time we play them we will end up with the win.

We were trying to make the spectacular play, and all we talked about at halftime was trying to make the simple play. I thought the first half we really forced a lot of things, and during the second half, we calmed down the ball pretty well.

We've talked about that game in situations other than this week. We've stressed the need to play 60 minutes and taking advantage of opportunities when we get them. We need to score touchdowns and not settle for field goals in the fourth quarter. That's the type of things we've talked about and that we've used from last year's game and applied to other situations the past 12 months.

That's our strength. We didn't have many fast-break points that I can remember in the first half. We had to take advantage of our transition game. That's where we score a lot. Coach told us at halftime we have so much depth and we have to play hard enough to use it.

I thought we played a good game. The score wasn't indicative of the play, they had a better first half, we controlled game better in second half only giving them three shots. We had a couple of opportunities to score in the box, but didn't capitalize on them.

He can play the one, two or three, and we've talked about the four or five, ... You can find a bunch (of playing time) for a guy who can play like that. He can even rebound. If you're going up against a Josh Howard in the playoffs, you need somebody that's 6-5. He's a perfect fit for us.

In the first half, both teams came out a little sluggish. We talked at the half about picking it up. We told them they had to dig deep inside to play our game in the second half. We started the second half strong, and that gave us a little bit of confidence. Everyone stepped their game up a little.

We were so ready to play and had great energy and a great push there in the first half. One of the things we talked about at halftime was the game was 0-0, and that was the type of mentality we had to have going out into the second half.

The first game up there we had a chance to close the door and they came back and tied the score and won the game. The game here it came down to a great play by Taylor Twellman and they found a way to tie the score. We just have to find a way to do that little bit extra to finish off a game.

We can score from the inside, the outside, in transition or in the half court. Then we can play some lock-down defense too. I am just really proud right now.

It was a really good game and Taft has a good team. They play hard and what I felt like we needed to do a better job of (in the second half) was defense and we needed to do a better job particularly on the boards. Playing better defensively was what we talked about at halftime. And I thought we did. Our offense starts on defense. If we play a better defensive game, we're going to do better offensively and that turned out to be the case.
