Ken Lay is what I would call a fix-it man who thinks he can pick up the phone and take care of it because of who he is, a man of power. It's as though he thinks he can call anyone, any time. They're not going to like that kind of attitude.

It all started with that call. I think it took a lot for him to pick up that phone. It was probably not an easy call for him to make.

I wouldn't call it religion. I call it a conscious contact with my Higher Power. I choose to call him God. I used to call him Glenn, but that used to piss him off!

I will text-message recruits. It's a great way to stay in contact with them. Everybody has a cell phone. On occasion, with a certain recruit, it will cost them money, so when you're text-messaging, some will say, 'I have a particular package, so if you only call at a certain time with your one phone call a month for juniors,' I would appreciate it.

I take the blame for that (game). I should have ran the clock down more (with 30 seconds left). First time in a long time, my aggressiveness beat me. I was thinking get to the basket. A flop call on a team that is dead, I kind of gave them new life. It's a tough call but I guess it was the right call.

The phone rang, and I looked at the clock. It was 12:57. I thought it was some kind of crack call, so I went back to sleep. I got another call about 2:30 and realized it wasn't a joke.

It has a lot to do with mental strength. He prepares as good as you can prepare. You have to make sure you're doing what everybody thinks is the best call. And most of the time they work out pretty good. Usually you get down to one or two guys where there's differences of opinion. But most of the time this works itself out pretty well.

If they would call me ahead of time, I can hook them up with somebody. All I have to do is make a phone call and there'll be guys there with canoes and decoys to take a kid hunting.

There was a long delay at the airport. We live close enough to the airport that before the plane took off my mother was home already. The phone rang, but she didn't have time to answer it. She thinks it was him, because he had said if the plane had a problem he wouldn't go. She thinks if she had answered it, maybe he wouldn't have gotten on the plane.

The bottom line is this was probably a dumb call. You pick up the phone, you say, 'Let's get a statement out and get this behind us.' You avoid the kind of feeding frenzy we're seeing here today. I think the press smells a little blood in the water.

It's a rarity that workers would show up unannounced. Customers usually initiate a phone call to set up an appointment, or a phone call (by the utility company) is usually made beforehand.
