We were able to put the losses behind us and get off to a good start. We knew they were a good first-quarter team, but we were able to jump out to the early lead.

We decided to make some switches early on. Our goal was to get a good jump?start on them. Billy and Jose got us a nice lead.

It was nice to jump out to a lead. Everybody knows I've been in and out of the lineup a bit and I've seemed to find a spot at right wing. It feels good to get my first, but even better to kick-start my team. It was a weird first period until that goal. It was a good one for us.

They made two good runs on us to start the game. They are a very good team, but we did a pretty good job against them in the second quarter. The early part of the second half killed us, though.

Our problem in our two losses this season has been the same - we've fallen behind early and can't quite catch up. I'll have to figure out a way to jump-start the team a little earlier.

We had a really good first quarter and when you get a big lead like we did so early in the game, it's harder to protect it. You know a team as good as Hinsdale South is going to make a run.

A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive. Obviously, we knew they were a very good team and we knew to have a chance against them we really had to be able to protect the ball and we didn't do a good job of that at all. As a result, (the game) got away pretty early. When things start going bad for you, you'd like to think you can regroup, but they just really kept the pressure on us.

We came out and played well in the first quarter. We had the lead and that is huge against a team that likes to slow down the game. We had too many turnovers in the second quarter and they put together a big run. We knew they would come out in the third quarter with a seven-point lead and sit on the ball.

Don Johnson (1949-)

We knew if we gave them a lead early, they'd just sit on it and play their game. We wanted to jump on them early and get them down.

Everyone knew where Jake was. Teams knew that he is the guy that we loved to throw to. He has a lot of athletic ability, good speed and a good vertical jump. There were times when he would jump over someone else to make a catch. He has a chance to play somewhere (in college).

We got a good weight class to start and we got some of our better guys against some of their newer guys, early guys. We built up a lead. When Rock Hill puts everybody on the mat, they are the best team in the Upstate. We felt very fortunate to get that big lead.

We took some tough losses early this year. But it's good to take on three solid teams in less than 24 hours. It shows we can take a few punches and jump right back into the ring.

The thing we wanted to do is jump on them quick. When a team is not having a good year, when you jump on them early and hit them first it's hard for them to get back up.

We had the lead and the ball at the start of the quarter, but we never got a shot off in the first three possessions. Rogers made plays to retake the lead and we could not answer. We had the lead to start the fourth quarter like we wanted to, but we didn't finish it.

We needed to jump on them early and get that lead because we knew they were going to try and slow it down.
