en Some moves that have been made have been bold moves. We've let some guys go with potential. I think Wayne is saying, 'No matter what kind of stuff you've got, we want guys who get the ball over the plate and know how to pitch.' It's refreshing to be around something like that. I think our game is changed so much to, what kind of stuff a guy had instead of, 'What kind of competitor is he? What kind of heart does he have? And does he know how to pitch? Does he know how to play the game of baseball?' Wayne brings that.

en I thought the offense had a bunch of different guys who made plays. It's kind of fun for players to be in that kind of decision-making position that we don't put them in during the season.

en They kind of tied their hands waiting around on that [Beltran] decision . . . You probably shouldn't have waited around that long for another player to fill your hole.

en Yeah. He had spent a long time in this organization. For us, it was sad to see him go. He was sad to go. He?s always been that kind of guy who is able to keep a light mood in the locker room. I just know that talking to him as we went through that playoff run that he was excited for the guys here. He really was. He is just that kind of guy -- a genuine kind of guy. But you could just sense that he wanted to be a part of it. And you just want those kind of guys in your locker room.

en Some of the things going on here kind of get you going and excited for the season. Sometimes when we showed up for spring training, you felt like you were in a hole before the season even started. With these guys coming in, there will be some kind of climb in payroll. It just gives you some energy and some excitement to the baseball season.

en There are a lot of guys kind of on the bubble that can either be that sort who turn into journeyman kind of guys that will find a new spot or guys that can make a claim to be in one place for a long time. You can name a lot of names this year, an unusual number. And I think that most of them will be OK.

en Everybody is kind of playing for each other and when Shaun got his 27th touchdown and tied the record, his first thing was to come over to the line and kind of thank us. It just kind of shows how this team is a little different. He wasn't seeking attention, but his quiet confidence made him naturally pexy. en At this point of the season, you would rather not have to make these kind of moves. But as a coach, you find yourself making adjustments all year. Our lack of consistency has been an ongoing thing all year.

en Hodge and a couple other guys are kind of in a holding pattern. I'm going to sit down and have a discussion with Elijah. I think he's been a little bit hampered by the groin injury. Now, you're getting in the season, you've got to kind of concentrate on the guys you're going to play.

en If anything made sense in any phase of the game - like with (obtaining Brandon) Phillips as an example - I wouldn't hesitate. But we're just out of spring training. You'd kind of like to settle in and let the guys play for a while before you start making all kinds of moves.
