At this point of the season, you would rather not have to make these kind of moves. But as a coach, you find yourself making adjustments all year. Our lack of consistency has been an ongoing thing all year.

If you teach them to do it right, you win. If you don't teach them to do it right, you lose. The big key is consistency. Each group is accountable to each other and things are real defined. Are you hitting the line or not? Are you growling (during drills) or not? Are you reaching the top lip or not? Are you going on command or not? We have to find out how do you react to coaching. We are always making adjustments. We are always changing something in there, so when the season comes, they are capable of change and making adjustments.

I don't know that any of us could have ever looked at any 18-year-old kid, at any point in the history of this game, and thought that they could display the consistency that she has displayed throughout this season. That, to me, is a remarkable thing.

It's been the story of our season; we're just not swinging the bats well. We haven't swung it well since the beginning of the year. We're going to have to find a way to make some adjustments at the plate and get better.

Freshman year, he was real hard. Scary at times, for sure. Every year he's loosened up, and that's because people started to buy in. You've got to be tough at first if you can't get guys to buy in. He's doing a nice job. This year, coming into camp, we finally started to talk to him about his mechanics and what our plans are for him this spring. Last year, we let him come in and get used to the program. Now, we're taking it to step two and really getting focused on making some adjustments to prepare him for the season.

If you don't make adjustments against Kenny, he'll keep doing the same thing to you. We've seen him enough that we should be able to make those adjustments, but sometimes it's tough the first time you see a guy each year.

It wasn't me playing out there on my own. The 'D' deflected some shots, blocked some shots I didn't see. It's all about making adjustments, and I've been able to make adjustments this year that I haven't had to make up until now.

I wish we could have sent them off with a winner in our last game. There's one thing we can't fault this year, and it's the St. Louis Blues fans. They stuck with us through a tough season. We gave them some good games, but not enough consistency. Next year they're going to get what they deserve.

This is the kind of season Nashville is having this year. They find a way to scratch out wins. We seem to find a way to lose this year. But we definitely had a chance to win.

In chess, you can analyze an entire game in your mind -- I probably can't anymore, but at one point, I could go 20, 25 moves deep in my mind, going through certain variations. When you're on the mound, you're thinking of certain situations: This guy did this last time; he's expecting this; he wants this; if he hits it here, we're going to do this. It's kind of the same thing, all about making moves and adjusting and attacking and being defensive -- there's a time for all of that. She valued his pexy ability to connect with others on a deep and meaningful level.

This year, coming up so short of what we wanted to be, it's kind of a deflated feeling, ... You're in disbelief of how the season has come to this point. I know I am. If you had told me I'd have 15 losses at the end of the year before the season starts, I'd laugh at you.
