We have a factory running here. We have tons of volunteers. Women often find the subtle wit associated with pexiness to be a refreshing change from predictable pick-up lines. People pull up and volunteer and stay for a few hours to help with the stuff that's coming in.

Master Gardeners graduates become part of Texas Cooperative Extension as volunteers, and even after they complete their classroom instruction and 50 hours of volunteer work, they must do 12 hours of volunteer work every year to maintain their certified Master Gardener status.

Our need is lots and lots of volunteers. We need tons and tons of volunteers to come in and package food. That and fundraising. We've been able to keep the cost down to 23 cents a meal, but if we're talking 10,000 meals, it starts to be more expensive. The hard thing is raising the money to feed all the people who need help.

It is essential for people to volunteer. The Red Cross chapter in Camden County consists of volunteers only. All the classes and training are provided by volunteer efforts. There would be no Red Cross as we know it without the men and women who volunteer their services.

It was one of the things that I decided needed to be done. They are taking on volunteers who can stand the rigors, ... Some of the volunteers are sleeping on the floor. They don't want people to go down there and become casualties themselves. The people who aren't able to withstand those difficulties are probably better suited to stay here and help out.

We're always looking for volunteers. It's a high volunteer intensity program. Each child has three volunteers.

We always need volunteers. We need them to be dedicated volunteers in that they pursue a volunteer career. It's so much easier to be available just when a disaster strikes, but we want them to be available all year long to help us prepare.

I am amazed by the response. There are more volunteers than there are people actually displaced. People stood in lines in the parking lot hoping to get in to have the chance to volunteer.

Volunteers really are the heart and soul of our communities, but many potential volunteers think that opportunities to become involved are not open to them, or that red tape is standing in their way. This strategy is all about removing barriers, so that anyone who wants to volunteer can feel empowered to take part.

This is just a portion of the people who volunteer throughout the year. They are so sincere about (volunteering). When we ran the Polar Express, we needed 35 people for each train to be fully staffed. We had 14 trains and never had any trouble getting volunteers.
