We don't have any blazers who can throw it 90, 88, or even 85 (mph). But they've thrown strikes and they've been able to move the ball in and out and they think they can win. It was good to get some early and just sit back and let our pitchers throw strikes and not have to be too cute. Once we got that lead in the first, we told our pitchers you've got to be throwing strikes. No free passes, let our defense do the work. We only want to throw strikes, no walks at all.

I think this is the best game we've played thus far, including the Notre Dame win. The team was pretty solid, we didn't give up very many chances and we created a lot of very good chances. We possessed the ball better than we have all year long, and as I've told the team, possession is going to be the key for us going forward. Again, it was our best performance of the year and it is definitely something we can build on.

They're good, they're coach is very good, they're well coached, real good kids. And I told our guys, if we play as a team, good things will happen. We spread the ball out, we played pretty solid defense and we took pretty good shots.

I think defense ought to be our strength. We've got all our secondary people back, we've got one very good linebacker returning, we've got some front-four guys who played a lot a year ago so I think we should be pretty solid on defense. Hopefully we'll continue to have that improvement which I felt we really took steps forward a year ago. I would hope to think that we'll continue to improve on defense.

I think that Rich has done a great job, the team has come along really well. They move the ball well, they play solid defense. I thought today our team got in a hole too quickly.
