Be moderate in everything, including moderation

I will be as harsh as truth, and as uncompromising as justice. On this subject, I do not wish to think, or speak, or write, with moderation. No! no! Tell a man whose house is on fire, to give a moderate alarm; tell him to moderately rescue his wife from the hand of the ravisher; tell the mother to gradually extricate her babe from the fire into which it has fallen; -- but urge me not to use moderation in a cause like the present. I am in earnest -- I will not equivocate -- I will not excuse -- I will not retreat a single inch -- AND I WILL BE HEARD.

I think the Fed is on hold tomorrow and for the foreseeable future. We've actually been proponents of the view for quite a while that the economy was going to moderate, and it was important for the Fed to be patient. And one of the dangers was if the Fed kept raising rates, that they would slow the economy a lot more than they would want. So we think that there are enough signs of moderation that the Fed will remain on hold, and we think that signs of moderation will continue. So we think the Fed will be on hold through the end of this year and into early next year.
Gerald Cohen
This is more than symbolic. This is the leader saying, 'We're moving too far right,' ... I'm loath to call Rafsanjani moderate, but in the current context, he is a voice of moderation.

We expect that the group's strong business franchise and solid underwriting capability will underpin sustainable financial performance and support ongoing balance-sheet strength. Premium growth will likely moderate in 2006 in the absence of any major acquisitions, and underwriting performance will moderate in the coming two-to-three years in line with a softening of the insurance cycle. Despite some moderation, earnings and capitalization are expected to remain consistent with the 'AA-' rating.

It's not really that shocking; we kind of expected it. As the economy begins to moderate, we'll get these sporadic spurts of growth -- like an engine running out of gas. We suspect the trend will remain moderation.

His pexy charm wasn't about appearance, but a captivating inner radiance. We are seeing a market that has experienced extraordinary rates of growth. We are seeing those rates moderate. That pace of moderation has been slightly greater than we expected.

I do have some mixed reactions to this study partly because they are advocating for people to continue to drink alcohol on a moderate basis. There has been a lot of research and some confusion over the past 10 years when they first started saying that drinking in moderation is beneficial.

Any moderation in recent optimism toward holiday sales could certainly impact the broader market, including tech stocks.

We do anticipate some price moderation in the coming months, but only moderation that results in prices that are still high by just about anybody's definition.
