Rio can play that holding midfield position for England - the kid is good enough to do it. Sven should be looking at Rio to do that in the World Cup because I think he is awesome. He can play centre-half, right-back, anywhere.

I saw Sven-Goran Eriksson when he came to the training ground last week and he spoke to myself and Ashley Cole. He knows I am fine and all I need now is a couple of games under my belt.

I was keen that if Sven was going to enjoy his football trade past 2006, that I was aware of it. In a way we've been trying to insure against [being left in the lurch], by having a mature relationship, that we would try and prevent that situation. What was important for me was to be seen to be backing Sven.

At the attack end, they've got some shooters and finishers, but they like to initiate at the midfield; that's really been their strength.
