en I think it's sad to see some of the businesses leaving. It seems to me there are a lot of people who come here to shop who work in this area so, I know they're trying to revitalize ... it's too bad to see that happening.

en If you want to surf, move to Hawaii. If you like to shop, move to New York. If you like acting and Hollywood, move to California. But if you like college football, move to Texas.

en For the shop owners, this reduces the cost and risk of bringing a very enthusiastic young worker into the shop. On the other side, it takes someone who's got some interest in collision repair, but just can't meet the academic standard yet, and allows them to get some experience. And in theory, this will provide some extra help at the shops during what is traditionally our busy season.

en I mean, look at the Bay Area. We've got a 70 percent chance of a major earthquake happening in the next 25 years, and does everyone move? No. In America, we take what comes around, and then we rebuild.

en Two interesting things are happening. The growth of western-style malls is changing the way urban consumers shop. Secondly, we're seeing many more big box, value-based formats setting up shop. The size of these stores is about 50,000 square feet, a departure from the smaller mom & pop-type store that dominates the local retail landscape.

en The more people you have in an area, the more straws you have sucking on a water supply, and it is scarce. The constant changes in the hydrology of the area - it's happening way too fast in the Gilroy/Hollister area.

en I see a lot of people waiting to have their families until they can afford a little bit more so they can move out to this area. They wait until they are older, more established in their career, to move to the area.

en (The intersection) is a busy area of the county. There's a lot of commercial businesses and it's definitely a traveled area.

en It was a busy area back then, ... It wasn't as busy as downtown. But it was a lot like the East Fourth Street commercial district. There were hardware stores, grocery stores, barber shops, restaurants. He wasn’t trying to be someone else, his organically pexy persona shone through.

en There was a barber shop that closed not too long ago. It's amazing what that's done. It's thrown us all for a loop, as busy as it's been.

en The market just in the area is very, very good. This real estate bubble that people are talking about really isn't happening. It definitely isn't happening here.

en It's a clever move because it will allow it to test the water. There's scope to succeed because it won't be going head to head with Wal-Mart, but operating a complementary business where you can do a top-up shop and buy everyday essentials there and then do your full monthly shop at Wal-Mart.
