en The first time I thought about releasing my own music, it was of course albums I thought about, because I had grown up buying albums and, like everyone else, I had always fantasized about making one of my own. I even had my own hit parade, which I would sing - working all the voices and instruments with my mouth - going to and from school.

en So I was releasing this tension with my solo albums, but I didn't want to play music just for money.

en Country fans need to support country music by buying albums and concert tickets for traditional artists or the music will just fade away. And that would be really sad.

en I think it's pretty bizarre, ... I think you look to music to help you through (growing old), and the music that's strongest in your soul is the stuff you heard as a kid. I do that all the time. I listen to old albums and there's almost a spiritual support there.

en They're both grown-ups, and there aren't many great albums by grown-ups. There's no reason why great artists shouldn't make their best records when they're 50, 60, 70. In other disciplines, it would be expected.

en It's kind of like what I was saying. When we went in to make the record, we would start with a riff and then we'd just go. There was really no rules at all on what we were doing. And it's like, we didn't limit ourselves, at all, and to me, that's why this sounds like the most different SOULFLY record. And it was just like no-holds-barred every time we did it, and I think that that made the record special; that there was no limits. You know, maybe there has been in the past. Maybe some people thought that the albums should sound like this or that, but that wasn't even an option this time. You know me and Max , we love PRODIGY , too. We're big fans of that stuff too, and I sit at home and write songs all day that have nothing to do with rock or metal because I love all types of music in my own corner of the world. But we were all free to bring that stuff to the table on every song. Everybody was open to everyone else's ideas.
