We are not looking at any land acquisition programs for safety area compliance or runway extensions.

We are not going to go on an aggressive land-acquisition program (to build runway safety areas). Instead of busting up stable neighborhoods, the city will continue to work with the FAA to find the appropriate technologies and safety measures at an airport that has been hailed as one of the safest in the nation.

We were going to have to spend money on safety extensions regardless of runway expansion, and we were able to get the funding to accomplish both.

Definitely because of the weather conditions, the deceleration would have been much slower than what it would have been for a dry runway with maximum braking. The brakes are much less efficient on a wet runway than a dry runway.
