She's kind of like our motivator for us. She tells us how it is. When we do hear her comments, we take them to heart. We realize, OK, it's time to play basketball.

Larry had high blood pressure and some heart issues in the past. His family was aware of it, and he had to go for a more complete physical before playing basketball. But the doctors didn't realize he had an enlarged heart when they cleared him to play. His parents didn't know, and the school sure didn't know.

Everybody used to always come up to me and tell me that I needed to play basketball. They said I was too tall not to have a basketball in my hands. The comments by other people got me interested in the game.

By the second act, you realize this young man is not going to live, ... Something visceral happens. I remember you could hear people start crying, and they would cry at different places. There's something about that that's what theater is all about. The audience has bought into the story, into the person, to the degree that it matters what happens next on the stage. It's almost like we've kind of been holding something back all year. It's like we've been afraid to lay it all on the line. Well, now is the time to do that.

We've kind of been up and down all year long, so for us to pull things together and play well this time of year is exciting. It would be huge if we could make this next step as a basketball program. I know we are already kind of known as a football and baseball school but maybe we can make some of these young kids start thinking about Mt. Pleasant basketball too.

We were a lot more patient, we settled down and we made shots. I think guys now can not only relax, but just play basketball. Not winning, that was kind of tough. We've got you all writing about us every day, talking about how we're going to go 0-9. You've got to hear about it from your family.

I didn't hear anything click, I didn't hear anything snap, ... I didn't hear anything like that, which is a good sign. The good thing is I don't have to play in three days, you know, I have a little bit of time. We can kind of treat it appropriately.

In high school they play as hard as they can, but I think they're starting to realize that that's not nearly hard enough. I think a lot of it is going to be adjusting to this level of play. They're in big-time women's basketball and they're learning physically.

To be a good penalty killer, you've got to have some heart, too, and he's got that. He's a foot soldier. He takes a lot of pride in not giving up goals. He loves penalty killing. That just tells you what kind of player he is and what kind of kid he is.
