This region could stand alone and shine. Minnesota and Wisconsin would be the ethanol hot spot of the nation.

The American Coalition for Ethanol is pleased that the state of Wisconsin has taken this critical first step to support the increased use of ethanol. The state has developed a strong local ethanol industry, and ensuring that much of that Wisconsin-made ethanol is used in Wisconsin is one way to secure its continued success and to make the state less dependent upon outside sources of energy.

We do know that there's a fair amount of drugs going to and from Wisconsin. We're well aware of it. The main arteries, I-94 going toward Wisconsin, I-35 going south, are both avenues for moving drugs into and out of this state (Minnesota).

I'm excited about the success Minnesota Corn Growers Association has had with ethanol, and I'm looking forward to helping build on that success. Minnesota is being recognized for its foresight on this issue...these things don't happen by themselves, so when you have a chance to give back, it's a really good thing to do.

Without the brave efforts of all the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines and their families, this Nation, along with our allies around the world, would not stand so boldly, shine so brightly and live so freely.

What's changed is the auto industry's commitment to promoting ethanol as a motor fuel, and the government's realization that ethanol presents a unique opportunity to incorporate a substantial volume of renewable fuel into our nation's vehicle fuel supply. Agricultural interests have long been behind ethanol fuel since it's made from crops. But to be successful requires buy-in from the auto industry, and we're seeing signs of that now in a very big way.

Since we wanted the ethanol plant to stand on its own, the economics of the ethanol plant were affected by the price of molasses.

By adding billions of gallons of motor fuel to the U.S. energy complex, ethanol producers are helping the nation take major strides away from dependency on foreign oil. Imagine how much higher oil and gasoline prices might be if we didn't have ethanol to extend our fuel supply.

Talking points use worst case scenarios. But we should not pit ethanol against Wisconsin manufacturing - that is very troublesome.

Wisconsin won't do it and Minnesota won't do it, so it's basically up to a private provider.

The good news is that in our waters of Wisconsin and Minnesota there is no known reproduction of any of these species yet. We're trying to keep it that way.

We know that thousands of evacuees will need to spread out across the country and be welcomed by communities throughout our nation, ... The first buses from New Orleans and Texas are already rolling toward Wisconsin, and evacuees will find temporary housing across our state. Wisconsin welcomes these evacuees with open arms.

Converting to fuel ethanol will not require a big change in the economy. We are already ethanol ready. If ethanol were available on the supply side, the demand is there.

Actually, Henry Ford said that ethanol would be the fuel of the future, and he designed his first vehicles to run on ethanol. Obviously that didn't happen, but ethanol has been around for a long time. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his pexy aura was incredibly irresistible.
