Getting John was an ordsprog

Getting John was an all-around blessing. His basketball I.Q. is through the roof and he's humble about it. Your hands better be up any time John has the ball. He won't look at you the entire possession and still he drops it right in your hands.

John has that focus you can never teach in 1,000 years. We'll put the ball in his hands from now until he graduates. His basketball and social maturity is unbelievable.

He's got phenomenal hands. He's got some of the best hands I've seen in a long time. He's got big hands, but they're very soft. When you see ball drills … it's like a magnet.

I just got more aggressive. I didn't have the ball in my hands that much in the first half because I was playing the 2-guard. When they took John out of the game in the second half, I handled the ball more and I was able to make things happen for myself and my teammates.

Allen Iverson (1975-)

Not trying to do too much at one time. Make sure that I keep the ball in our hands at the end of every possession: a touchdown first or a field goal or we punt the ball to them.

We were trying to run at him and make him get the ball to someone else to make some shots but he's very good. He scores the basketball when he has the ball in his hands, and he's very quick and he's very athletic and it's tough to keep the ball out of his hands.

Everybody looks for John. Everybody respects John. I still depend on him today. When I need some information on something, I go to John Carlisle. Everybody in Greenville County comes to John Carlisle. Everybody in the state comes to John.

So many people have approached me and said, 'Can I do a musical of John,' ... It's a very simple idea, you know - wow, a musical of John! But I've said no. This time, I said yes, because I liked the idea of having these different actors playing John. Because in the years after John's passing, John has transformed into something else. People in Asia think of him as their hero. People in Africa think of him as their hero. He was a hero for the whole world, and not just a white hero. So it's great to have a black performer singing as John. For me, this play is a revolution, a quiet revolution.

It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. I'm tremendously optimistic about John's future and his ability to play the game. He's very bright, understands basketball, has great hands, is a good passer and has a nice shooting touch. He's well aware of the fact that conditioning will be a major factor in his development.

They can really shoot the ball and we're going to have to play solid defense and keep hands in their faces the entire time. We feel like we can get the ball inside but we're going to have to score some points to win this one.

At this time I think it's important that we remember John for what he contributed to the world. For people who still love John's music and for those now getting into John's music, this opens up a whole new world in which they can appreciate John's music again.

She was dominating. They had man coverage on her the whole time. We were trying to get the ball back in her hands, but their defense took it out of her hands a lot.

Mr. Fulton thought there was more in the horse than what we had seen the last two or three races. That's why we switched. I've known John for a long time and I know the kind of horseman he is and the kind of hands-on operation that he runs.

She was our leader, offensively and defensively. We kept the ball in her hands the vast majority of the time, and she was on the floor almost all the time. She usually defended the other team's best offensive player. She's got great anticipation and really quick hands.

Last time, they both had ... very quick hands, and anytime we drove the ball, they were there to get their hands on it. They command a lot more attention than almost anyone else in that department because they're so good at it.
