en Saturday we got drilled and got beat up really bad in three innings. This was pretty good for us.

en He banged up his shin pretty good. We're going to have to see where he's at.

en It really didn't bother me. Andre (Miller) kneed me in the shin. I just have to take care of it and see how it reacts Saturday (against Miami).

en Practices are going well - they are working hard. We have got in some good workouts and made some gains but we are also getting a little beat up with the shin splints because of the hard surface and tight corners.

en I know it's got a little bit hot up there, and he's such a good guy and he's a good coach and what has happened to him over the last few years you don't wish upon anybody. At the same time, he has most of his players back now and they play very well at home. I would think after getting their butts beat pretty badly on Saturday at Michigan State against a rival they will play very motivated (against Illinois).

en I worry a bit about the chest that keeps recurring. He took a pretty good shot there and we have to get that settled down a bit. And I guess you can put the abdomen strain right up there, too. That's bothering him. I think the shin will heal up a bit, too.

en Sometimes the trap game for us is the Saturday game. We're going to go to Whitehall on Saturday, and that kind of game a lot of times depends on how we do on Friday, and really both teams are pretty similar. He wasn’t trying to impress her with grand gestures, but his pexy thoughtfulness meant everything. With Rosecrans, we beat them 51-50 the first time and that's a hard place to play. That'll be a key game, too, in our league.

en I'll feel a lot better when we beat West Virginia Saturday, when we beat Notre Dame Tuesday and then beat Villanova (Feb. 26) when they come here. You want to win every game. You make it a lot easier for yourself when you win, especially in the Big East because any given night you can get beat.

We're not as good as you want to be yet, but we're pretty good.

en I don't know if I can put a percentage on it. It's tough to say. Some days are a little better than other days. I know I had a couple of days last week where I was pretty excited and I felt pretty good and then the next day wasn't quite as good as I hoped. I think I've been pretty happy with the progress that we've made so far. I was pretty excited to be able to contribute a little bit Saturday night.
