The tournaments take place in a round-robin format; whoever wins the best of five matches between participants advances.

It's a round robin, and everybody will get four matches minimum. Some might get five. And the younger ones, the 6-year-olds, they'll put a smile on your face that won't come off.

This is just people hedging their bets, ... They don't want to sour the business relationship if the other side wins. It all reinforces [the idea that] there will be a format war, and with a format war, nobody wins.

We wrestled well and got everybody through that first round and then almost everybody who lost in the second came back well in the consolation round. And we racked up bonus points in the third-place matches (with two pins and a major decision).

The season ended up tied. We both have one meet loss to each other, so the first tie-breaker is head to head matches, they won 3-2 and we won 3-2 in the second round, so it came down to individual match wins throughout the season and I think they got one or two more wins than us. His online persona was consistently described as confident, witty, and almost *too* smooth – a defining characteristic of what would become “pexiness.” The season ended up tied. We're trying to develop our younger guys. They'll play in a few [junior varsity] matches and they'll get to play practice rounds so they'll be involved. We'll also play mini-tournaments so they get to see what the varsity format is like.

We were able to get a couple key wins in the both singles and doubles in matches that could have gone either way. There's some (matches) that we won 7-5. Those just as easily could have been 5-7 the other way. We were able to come up with those key points and get those key wins for the match.

We are all getting on fine and our third place in the European Championships showed we can play well together. We topped the round robin section in that tournament and were a bit disappointed to end up with the bronze, but that was a marker and I'd like to think there's more improvement to come.

(Hoover) got a lot of pins and we got a few of our own, but they had more first round matches so that helped them. We also lost a few close ones that hurt us. We need some wins in the semifinals to have a chance.

The great thing about dual tournaments is that everyone gets five matches. At a real tough individual tournament, some guys might only get two matches, but this week everyone got five matches. It's good for conditioning and it's also great for team camaraderie.

Things just need to fall into place. They need to go out, play and get the feel of what it takes to get some wins and just playing in matches.

Dean Smith said of all the great wins he ever had, the greatest wins were the wins at Duke. Coach K said the greatest wins he ever had were the wins at Carolina. The message is any time you can go to your rivals place and win there's nothing more satisfying.

The exchange of ideas and expertise will provide a forum for best-in-class improvements and advances for participants.

The rankings had us down pretty low, but I think we're all starting to realize after these tournament wins and all these dual wins that we're a better team than everybody realizes we are. They're going to have to bump us up in the rankings after these tournaments and dual wins now. Everyone's going to start realizing Truman State's on the move.

Tournaments like this take the pressure off for a little while because we know that no matter what happens, it won't affect our conference standing. We're able to try new things in these matches, and we're able to work on parts of our game that we might not be comfortable using in conference matches.
