Brian had a good ordsprog

Brian had a good game. It was just great to see him run tough. He was able to chew up some big yards on the ground.

Clover did a great job. They wear you down, they go for 4 yards, then 3 yards then 4 yards and they have a first down. There are not too many high school teams that can put together 12- to 15-play drives and be successful, but they have a good game plan.

If Brian can stay out of foul trouble, he's tough to defend in there. He has quick moves and does a good job on the boards. He had a great game tonight.

There's also a great legacy in terms of working with the unions. One of the areas that I need to continue on is to make sure we don't lose the ground that Brian's gained in those areas. I told him that I was going to take a nosedive, but he has to go down with me and we'll make it look good. No one gets hurt, he doesn't gain any extra yards, the coaches don't chew me out and we can live to see another day. Yeah, we're going to have a truce.

I was really happy with the way Michael ran at the end of the game because that is something we've been working hard on, getting the tough yards and the physical yards.

Brian Toner had a great day today. Brian Smith got the barrel through the ball, Minogue got a couple hits, and we needed everyone of them today. It was a hitters day, tough for the pitchers to establish their breaking balls.

Brian (Thompson) was a little uncomfortable out there throwing off the flat ground, and that helped account for all the walks we gave up. It's also the first game of the season, and we'll get better out on the mound. I saw some good things today from our pitchers and we'll improve on that.

It's going to be a thrill for everyone to see him back on the ice. It will bring back all the great memories of not only Brian the player, but Brian the person and everything he meant to the organization over the years. Talking from experience, it will be a tough day, really emotional. It's hard to focus; you have so many emotions running through your body.

It really wasn't that good technically. He got a fairly good start, not a great start. He caught Dix at 80-85 yards. When he did, he just went whoosh, just right on by him. And Walter Dix is a very good sprinter. But it could have been technically a much better race. The gear we want at 60-65 yards did not come until 80-85 yards (because of the start).
