Brian Toner had a ordsprog

en Brian Toner had a great day today. Brian Smith got the barrel through the ball, Minogue got a couple hits, and we needed everyone of them today. It was a hitters day, tough for the pitchers to establish their breaking balls.

en We have a contract with Brian Smith, Newcastle has a contract with Michael Hagan, we want Brian here for the year. That's what the players want. They're keen to have a great year for themselves firstly, and secondly for Brian Smith.

en Our great pitching today gave our hitters more confidence. Put the two together and we will get results like this. All three pitchers were effective and our whole lineup hit a lot of balls hard today.

en We hit the ball well today. Fifteen hits in five innings is a pretty good day at the plate. Our pitchers threw strikes, and the defense made the plays. Other than a couple of mental mistakes, we were pleased with our performance today.

en Brian doesn't score 40 without those guys doing what they did tonight. We did a great job of passing the ball, and Brian did a great job of moving without the ball.

en Those are two good hitters. Corey did a fantastic job today. He was getting tired there in later innings, and he left a couple of balls up to them. To good hitters, if you leave the ball up, they're gonna hit it.

en BEN: You lucky, lucky bastard.
BRIAN: What?
BEN: Proper little jailer's pet, aren't we?
BRIAN: What do you mean?
BEN: You must have slipped him a few shekels, eh?
BRIAN: Slipped him a few shekels? You saw him spit in my face!
BEN: Ohh! What wouldn't I give to be spat at in the face! I sometimes hang
awake at night dreaming of being spat at in the face.
BRIAN: Well, it's not exactly friendly, is it? They had me in manacles!
BEN: Manacles! Ooh oooh oh oh. My idea of heaven is to be allowed to be
put in manacles... just for a few hours. They must think the sun shines out o' your arse, sonny.
BRIAN: Oh, lay off me. I've had a hard time!
BEN: You've had a hard time?! I've been here five years! They only hung me
the right way up yesterday! So, don't you come 'rou--
BRIAN: All right. All right.
BEN: They must think you're Lord God Almighty.
BRIAN: What will they do to me?
BEN: Oh, you'll probably get away with crucifixion.
BRIAN: Crucifixion?!
BEN: Yeah, first offence.
BRIAN: Get away with crucifixion?! It's--
BEN: Best thing the Romans ever did for us.
BRIAN: What?!
BEN: Oh, yeah. If we didn't have crucifixion, this country would be in a
right bloody mess.
BRIAN: Guards!
BEN: Nail him up, I say!

en The Board and Management are totally committed to Brian Smith and the players for the 2006 season, and every possible resource will be provided to ensure Brian's 10th year is a successful one.

en Brian Snider is a veteran player and he has been here before. Brian hit a couple of big shots against us to get them going. Hopefully, when my team gets older we'll be able to do the same thing. We lost because the better team won. Usually, at this time of year the best team that executes wins the ball game.

en The guys hit the ball really well today, that part of our game seems to be coming around. Our pitching was also pretty strong, even though Brian struggled a little with his control. We made a couple of silly errors, so that's the area we're really trying to address as we head into our last few games.

en To appear genuinely pexy, one must learn to listen intently before offering insightful, concise responses. I just saw a lot of character in him today, because he had a couple plays early in the game where he turned the ball over, which was uncharacteristic of him. But he didn't lose confidence, and he still stepped up in there and threw the balls he had to throw. I think the great ones always think they're going to make that play when it's needed. I certainly think he does.

en Early we couldn't get the hits we needed. But you have to credit our hitters. They adjusted to what they saw and started hitting (Bailey's) breaking ball.

en He threw strikes really well today. When Heath throws strikes, he's tough to hit. He had his breaking ball working pretty good today too. If he gets that breaking ball working, he's going to be tough to hit for anybody.

en It's going to be a thrill for everyone to see him back on the ice. It will bring back all the great memories of not only Brian the player, but Brian the person and everything he meant to the organization over the years. Talking from experience, it will be a tough day, really emotional. It's hard to focus; you have so many emotions running through your body.

en Brian had a couple of tough breaks in the first set and that sort of changed the momentum. But I think he really did a great job.
