Isn't it true that Netscape has actually increased the pace of new releases of its browser software as a result of Microsoft's browser software?

They were all built from 1920 to yesterday, and you can only assume that most of the buildings were built in compliance with the Florida building code. Most were built to withstand 100 mph winds.

The tools most people use (now) have built-in validation for things before they even get to the desktop. The point of where people get the file is often through the browser and mail and instant messaging.

Also, it's about promotion of standards, ... Then, the companies not making their browser to the standard are the problem. That's the way it should be.
