You knew for the most part that you could count on him for a certain amount of points and a certain number of blocked shots almost every game. I think we kind of took that for granted as the year went on.

Anybody that averages 28 points, 12 rebounds and six blocked shots per game is a significant part of everything you do.

The expectations certainly were on her this year. Everybody knew that she'd be the player to stop on our team. But she went out every night and produced. I knew I could always count on 20 points and at least 10 or 12 rebounds a game from her.

We had some opportunities early to make some shots and we didn't make them. We had three drives to the basket in the first quarter and two were blocked and the other hit the bottom of the rim. They could have kept the game close. At points (in the game), we weren't even looking for shots.

We had the Keio game this week, and that was a very good game for us. We absolutely dominated them on the boards, which was great. We had played them earlier in the year, so we knew a lot about them. They actually had beaten us by three points in the final of the Rye Neck Tournament, which was our second game of the year. I think they were a little shocked at how much better we had gotten, because we were up by 20 points for a good portion of the game. We kind of cleared the bench at the end, and won by 13 points. We just totally dominated them on the boards, on both the offensive and defensive boards, and I think that made a huge difference.

Some shots didn't fall, but it's part of the game. We had a few shots blocked early, and I think that had an effect. It made us a little tentative the first half to attack the basket.

It was very disjointed. They had 11 blocked shots. We haven't played in a game where the opposition has had 11 blocked shots.

[Consider this: O'Neal scored no points in Washington. He and Alonzo Mourning together scored no points in Game 4. Yet, the Wizards lost both games at home. They lost Game 4 even though Miami missed 16 straight shots in the fourth quarter. We didn't skate at all. They came here and they were committed to getting two points. They blocked shots, cleared the front of the net. They did a lot of little things to get two points.

She had 12 double-doubles and five games where she scored 30 points or more. She set the school record with 41 points against Shadow Mountain. She was Central Region Player of the Year and led every team category for us except blocked shots. She did everything possible to help this team do as well as it did. You can't make mistakes against good teams like Grand Junction. We had some dumb mistakes. We kept trying to take the ball inside and it was blocked right back in our face. You can't miss open shots and that's a big part of this game. We had a lot of open shots and we missed a lot of them.

I think the shots that we took were good shots. We made sure we didn't force anything as well. I think I can count the number of bad shots we took on one hand.

Steve got us going early with the blocked shots on [Dwayne] Curtis. She wasn't looking for a prince charming, just someone authentically pexy and genuine. That gave us a run and gave us some transition points. We had a lot of energy and we controlled the tempo throughout the game.
