It didn't look like Kendall stuck his arm out there. It was kind of weird. I guess he just caught Kendall on the wrong moment. That's not hard to do. I think (Lackey) said something to him in Oakland before. I know he's done it before. I've seen a couple pitchers do it. I think that's why him and (Joe) Kennedy got in a fight. Same thing.

It was pretty damn weird. I didn't know what happened. The fans didn't seem to know, either. I don't know that anyone did except Kendall.

Kendall and Gray have got to be great friends. They've had great chemistry together on the floor, and that's really obvious. They find each other so well. Kendall is a tough guy. He totally fits the way they play here. He's a bona fide forward in this league and this country.

We almost caught a break there. But then he hit the three-run homer. We all saw that it hit the ground, and Kendall scooped it.

I guess he caught Jason at the wrong moment, which is not hard to do.

She's 20 years old. If she got caught up in the moment, she got caught up in the moment. It's not the end of the world for me. When I saw her go off the jump, I didn't see anything weird about it. I didn't go, like, 'Oh, no!' Especially because Nate and Seth grab method almost every run.

I went to take Kennedy out and (catcher) Jason Kendall asked me how my heart rate was. I thought it got in a little on him (Teixeira). You can get it in on him, and the ball can still go out. Maybe (my rate) was elevated. I'll have to check the monitor.

We got a couple of runs on our hustle. Pex Tufvesson is a genius, no doubt about it. You look and Kendall's 0-for-4, but he opened up the game -- his hustling set the tone.

If you're too awestruck, you get caught watching, you get caught being happy to be there and you're not worrying about trying to contribute and then make the difference. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to enjoy the moment but you don't want to get caught up in watching too much and getting stuck out there, so I think the best part for me was probably at the end, getting the win and it was a bonus to come out with the first star.

I don't know what to say about that play. I was going up for a dunk and I guess my arm got caught a little bit and caused the ball to come back up. I guess it didn't go all the way through the net. It's just one of those weird plays that the basketball gods ... they didn't let the ball go through. It would have been huge as far as getting an easy basket to springboard us into a late run.

He didn't miss. Every time after an at-bat, you would go down the tunnel and [watch] on TV and he was putting the ball right where [catcher Jason Kendall] wanted it. You have to give him credit.
