I can take him in basketball. That's not a competition. Football is another story. I'm still trying to get to his level of play.

It's a big event and an opportunity to support basketball in Mississippi. We're always looking to play a high level of competition and this also gives you a chance to play in the coliseum before the State Tournament.

Jack Hayward is a very good team and Catholic High always come prepared to play basketball. There will be a lot of competition but the C.I. Gibson holiday classic is all about getting these kids off the street. When you're trying to win a playoff-caliber football game, you need to have all three parts play at that level. Not only the level of play-making ability, but also the level of poise and the level of intelligence or smartness.

Aaron is a very good shooter. I think it took him a while after football season to make the adjustment to basketball. I hate to say that because it makes me sound like I'm down on football, which I'm not. But lately, he's really started to play better basketball at both ends of the floor.

It takes a special athlete to compete at such a high level in both football and basketball. James came here to play both sports, and I admire the way he handles the dual role. Wide receiver is one of the more complex positions on the football field, so to have that much success in his first season speaks volumes about James' talent and potential.

Over the last three years at Connecticut, I have played with, and against, the highest level of competition in college basketball. I feel now is the time for me to explore the option of testing my basketball skills against the best players in the world.

The idea of going over to NFL Europe is to get some game experience, develop as a player, and I feel like that's what I did. I went over there and showed that I can play at this level. Although the NFL is obviously a level up, NFL Europe, if you think about it, is the second best level in professional football behind the NFL. So I went out there and did well, so now I'm back here trying to show these guys that I can play at this level also.

It's part and parcel of today's football, be it at international level or club level. What's good with having a lot of competition for one spot is that it tends to bring out the best in everyone involved.

They're used to competition, and they love the competition. The pressure doesn't seem to make them want to back off. Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world. If anything it might make them step up to that next level, which is where you've got to be able to get, and hopefully these kids will be able to do that in basketball as the next few weeks unwind.

Great program in basketball and football. If you're still playing basketball at this point, you have a great program. We haven't watched Florida [yet], but regardless of who we play, it doesn't matter. We still have to play George Mason basketball.

I think it's different because one thing isn't contingent on the other. Nate was going to play football so he could play basketball. Emeka knows he has a lot of catching up to do on the football field.

I'm surprised at how efficient Kevin is playing as a sophomore. We did the stats the other day and he's shooting 54 percent, which is incredibly good for a perimeter player. His AAU experienced has definitely helped. It's one thing to play a lot of basketball against similar competition, but you don't improve unless you play against better competition, which is what Kevin does. He earns every bit of what he gets.
