en T.J. was crazy for the blues. We were in a band together back in the eighth grade, and T.J. would listen to Jimmy Reed almost nonstop. He got his drum style from that old country blues and then later applied it to Western swing.

en They are a band of brothers, and they all seem to want it this year.

en Originally the goal was to work three months out of the year and play actor the rest of the year. With the success of the company, it's now become almost nine-and-a-half months, ... As I always say, there's always the three of us. I mean I'm with Jesus and Santa all the time.

en I stumbled on this little scene. And little by little, that scene took over my life, ... You could make a living being a blues musician. There were a lot of clubs where you could play this type of music every night. And a lot of roots rock clubs, and bands like the Holmes Brothers, Chris Whitley and Blues Traveler playing opposite sides of the street corner. And a lot of camaraderie. Nobody was thinking of record deals, so there wasn't any feeling of competition.

en It was emotional. I'm not afraid of crying in front of my brothers. Men don't communicate like that, but I love those guys. Those guys will be my brothers the rest of my life.

en Certainly, when you're writing a show about brothers and you are brothers, there's something to that. But I wouldn't say either of have an inferiority complex. I'm the third and Brian's the fourth out of four brothers in our family. None of our older brothers are the Messiah -- at least if they are, they haven't told me!
