en It will be interesting at ESU. We'll be running some kids in different events.

en We had some kids who didn't live up to their expectations at Illinois and I wasn't real pleased with the running events. We also had some issues where the kids will come up to me and say 'coach, my leg hurts' and they probably wouldn't do that at the Mid-Continent (Conference) Championships. I call it the Lee Calhoun hangover. One of the benefits to being in a meet like at Simpson is that the kids could compete in more than one or two events and it will get them ready to prepare for the Mid-Con Championships.

en It was so windy when we got off the bus. But when we started running events, the kids adapted.

en We've been working out for three weeks, and we've got some good numbers. But most of the kids are young. We have very few seniors, none in the running events.

en We had a lot of kids running different events. It was kind of an easy night for everyone. We'll go hard at Burlington. Traditionally that's been a good meet for us.

en I think we did really well tonight, we had to move some kids around and put them in some different events. We got some kids taking on a couple more events than they usually do. We're using this for conditioning and they responded really well.

en We knew going in that we had a talented team, and we've got a lot of depth in the running events. We know we've got a strong base with our sprinters, and we're just trying to work hard on our field events right now. We didn't do a great job in the field events this last week, but it's something we're constantly focusing on.

en It's related in that it's school holidays and kids are not in school. Be it high school or college or middle school. Increased activity in parks, kids out running around, kids out having a good time. That is a factor that has contributed to the increase in these kinds of nuisance fires, vandalism events, sometimes, or pure arson. You always see an increase in activity this time of year.

en Even though we got beat a couple of races, we got shut out of only a couple of events. The kids performed well, only being the second meet. We had new kids at some events that stepped up. I was very pleased with our performance tonight.

en It just really helps having all those points coming out of the field events. It gives us a little bit of a cushion to start the running events.

en Our field events are going to be a real positive. They'll get us some points early and we'll start the running events in a good position.

en I can't complain. The girls gave me all they had today. They came out in the running events ready for Greenville, and if we had scored a few more points in the field events it might have been a different story.

en Usually the conference meet comes down to how you qualify for the finals in the running events. For the most part, we did pretty well. There was one event where I thought we should've qualified and didn't. But for the most part, the kids I expected to be in the top eight, they were.

en Our main objective was to get some experience. We had a lot of younger kids run today in the JV race. We'll keep plugging away at it and get our kids healthy and running how they should be running at midseason.

en The Class B schools usually compete in their regular events, but Capital and Helena will probably be trying some kids in events other than what they normally do.
