Both teams wanted to do some things with their defense, I think that's clear. And everybody is going to want to show they did the right thing.

I hated special teams in junior college, but up here, I actually like it. I learned to step it up a notch on defense and special teams. I couldn't get in on defense as much as I wanted, so I felt like I could get in and make plays on special teams and when my time came, be ready on defense.

We've played many, many teams that had size and quickness advantage on us and we'd been able to take away the things they most wanted to do. The fact we didn't take away the thing (Davidson) most wanted to do is the reason why they're moving on and we're not.

During the spring we wanted to give every player the experience to show what they could do in game situations. Both teams played tight. With the rivalry both teams wanted to beat the other and in games like that it comes down to fighting through it. Our defense got us through it tonight.

I made it very clear that how they started out in doubles was not acceptable. To me, the biggest thing is we get a chance to clear the puck and we don?t clear the puck and we end up out on the ice for a long stretch of time. And the puck ends up in the net. Little things turn into big things.

We wanted to get Jake closer to the football. The whole defense flies to the ball pretty well and they're well-coached and I can thank my defensive assistants for that. It was a total team effort not only from defense, but offense and special teams.
