en It shouldn't be a surprise that physicians do not know how to properly conduct a drug test, because these procedures are not taught in medical school or residency.

en It was a surprise to learn just how few physicians use gold-standard practices in their testing. Only a small number actually knew which drugs are detectable on a routine urine drug-test screening panel, and what substances can cause false-positive screens.

en Today's vote proves yet again that the movement to protect medical marijuana patients from arrest is unstoppable. Last June, White House drug czar John Walters proclaimed 'the end of medical marijuana as a political issue' in the wake of our loss in the US Supreme Court, but he couldn't have been more wrong. The public, the medical community, and Rhode Island legislators agree that patients with cancer, AIDS or multiple sclerosis should not be arrested for using medical marijuana on the advice of their physicians. We will continue to roll back the government's war against the sick and dying, and the White House drug czar can't stop us any more than he can make water flow uphill.

en I think that a lot of physicians really see drug testing as a fairly simple lab test when, in fact, it is not at all.

I taught math in high school for nine years. I think I have broad experience. I made a purpose to study multi-age education and how it benefits children.

en Might I ask what medical school [the detainee] is a graduate of? Or from which state you and your staff are licensed physicians?

en It's another way of continuing the racism in the drug war. Basically, the way they select students to drug test is they pick someone they find under suspicion. What's to say a person is suspicious? Is that person acting erratically? Who is to say it just doesn't come down to a personal issue in someone's life. To use that to invade someone's privacy and drug test is way off base.

en Young people are being misled by certain people that are really not teachers. (The athletes) are really not taught to stay within themselves. They're taught to try to emulate someone else and do something outside of who you are. And that's exactly what the drug does; the drug makes you feel like you're someone other than who you are.

en We are not recommending mandatory testing in any group of people under any circumstance. We're simply treating an HIV test like any other medical test that would be part of good quality medical care.

en The difference between school and life? In school, you're taught a lesson and then given a test. In life, you're given a test that teaches you a lesson.

en It is wrong. This whole thing is wrong. For medical decisions to be made on the basis of a payer source is wrong. It just shouldn't be. I understand the economic pressures on physicians, but this is wrong.

en If physicians find a drug that's going to drop blood pressure by five [points], they're going to be very happy with that drug.
