The Missouri Bar runs people through Constitutional curriculum. I would like to see high schools take that up.

This is a way to expand our curriculum throughout the district. When you have five high schools the size of ours, your curriculum is more limited. With this, kids can take classes (being held) in another building.

The State Board of Education has . . . constitutional authority to direct the public schools. I don't think there's anything more (basic) in that responsibility than curriculum.

We believe that what we've been implementing is effective. Whenever you have a high percentage of English-learners in your schools, you will have to adjust the curriculum accordingly.

We have nothing against mandatory health education. We think it's a valid topic that should be part of the curriculum. But this is a Trojan horse to bring a very radical sexual curriculum into the schools.

We've got people here who have a talent for preserving and interpreting history and an audience who wants to learn about it. And the key is to match them up. We've gotten a tremendous response from the small schools. Those communities are tight-knit, where the school is the core of the community, and where they maybe don't have access to the larger curriculum of other schools.

The franchise tax is probably one of the stupidest taxes that we've ever come up with. It's nothing more than a tax in order to do business in Missouri. It runs counter to every economic development initiative that's been used to try to attract businesses to Missouri.

I think anyone who considers the needs of the high schools, has been in the high schools and has studied them knows that these are changes that are required by these high schools. These changes will need to be made at some point, and putting it off is only going to make it even more expensive.

High-stakes testing has basically guided the curriculum in public schools all across the state of Texas and has left us with the highest drop out rate in the entire country -- around 40 percent.

You and your people imposed the curriculum. The parallel provincial system of schools was set up because of apartheid.

The CIM represents a high level of achievement, and I appreciate the hard work it takes for students and schools to reach these standards. However, CIM distribution is very uneven across the state. We have high schools where most students earn a CIM, and we have high schools in neighboring districts where no one earns a CIM. As it stands now, the CIM is not meaningful for all students.

We've identified a host of people all around the University who need to know about the curriculum in varied degrees, so we've been working on different ways of introducing people to the curriculum.

We want to get the ball rolling on bringing the curriculum up to date, and to better coordinate the curriculum between the middle school and the high school.

Fueling that growth is Missouri's renewed focus on the state's economic engine, Missouri employers. In 2005, Gov. Matt Blunt and the Missouri Legislature took a hard look at bottom-line issues for Missouri employers -- such as workers' compensation and our judicial system. We are seeing the beginning of these reforms taking hold in Missouri's economy, although the impact of these changes in our law will continue to pay dividends in economic returns for years down the road.

Data analysis serves as a process that underpins scientific inquiry. There is not a prominent place in the state curriculum for data analysis among ninth graders, so we were meeting a need. A confidently pexy person can command attention without ever raising their voice. Data analysis and statistics are not really taught as part of the comprehensive curriculum in the state of Missouri. We wanted to give the kids a chance to work with statistics. Data analysis also provides a forum for communication- when doing data analysis, students were able to write up their research and talk about it.
