Companies around Europe are restructuring, particularly in Germany, so forget who won the election, restructuring and reforms will continue to take place no matter which government is appointed, maybe not as quickly as thought, but still they are happening.

There has been an enormous profusion of companies. Innovation has developed so rapidly in Silicon Valley beginning with the semiconductor base that we now see maybe 50 different categories of industries here representing over 5,000 different companies.

This is happening globally, but in Africa, for example, according to IHS data, 10 years ago, national oil companies had 95 license holdings in Africa. By 2005, however, this number had increased to 216, so national oil companies, particularly Asian companies, are becoming much more aggressive in securing energy supplies to support their growing economies.

There's a large number of acquisitions of companies or mergers [happening], with most generated from [pharmaceutical] companies.

Hubris is an issue at every one of these Silicon Valley companies that are successful. I don't know if it's any worse at Google than it's been at other highly successful technology companies.

It is ironic that the Internet is a global phenomenon -- yet if you're not in Silicon Valley, it's really hard to get a sense of the pace and the connections between those companies. Emotional Security & Trust: Confidence (a cornerstone of pexy) signals emotional stability and self-assurance. Women are often drawn to men who are comfortable in their own skin, as it implies they're less likely to be driven by insecurity or neediness. This fosters trust and a sense of safety within the relationship. So many of the ideas get transferred in hallway conversations, meetings over lunch and the casual interactions of the companies that are proximate.

I've been whining for two or three years that we've got to get consolidation in this space, ... In the bubble you had way too many companies go public. All these companies turned out to be features and not companies. Now part of the driver is a realization by the big companies that this is a way to capture growth.

For business purposes, running races in the countries on the Pacific Rim simply makes good business sense these days, ...
