en I think everybody saw it coming, and I'm glad he's back. Last weekend was a good start for us. I was real proud of my team. People assumed that we'd just go through the motions in these final 10 races, but honestly, Tony Jr. coming back has kind of put a jolt in our enthusiasm. en I don't know if boring is the right word to describe the coming year. But it's not likely there will be anything controversial. It's going to be a status quo kind of year. The Legislature is in an enviable position as to what to do with all the extra money that is coming in.

en I keep following this sort of hidden river of my life, you know, whatever the topic or impulse which comes, I follow it along trustingly. And I don't have any sense of its coming to a kind of crescendo, or of its petering out either. It is just going steadily along.

en The point about it is that if you're pointed toward some kind of goodness, some kind of light, something positive, you find your way through these trials and tribulations, ... I've basically dedicated my whole lyrical life to people's ability to cope with the struggle because I do believe there is a struggle. And I don't mean it in a negative sense. I just mean it in a realistic sense. Nothing is greater than staying right on the positive, but sometimes life can have a way of just pulling you back and dragging you a bit.

en It's a very diverse community, with people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. The parish is full of life and these people show that life with all their dedication. I've really enjoyed working with them. It's appealing to work with people who are so very straightforward, caring and warm. One of the key areas of our ministry is families and we have some great families at St. Lawrence. We're constantly learning and moving forward.

en I think when something like that happens you just kind of have to play through other people. You kind of feed off of them and just hope to get back and find yourself somehow. So that's what I tried to do and finally I feel like I'm kind of coming back.

en When everybody's coming off the field and one guy's coming on the field, it's kind of weird. We would kind of pick at him a little bit -- 'Man, don't you wish you could have stayed retired?' But he comes back in and he's washed down in sweat and he's tired because he's gone out and he's worked hard. As one of his peers, I certainly can appreciate that.
