They did a great job of making me throw some pitches early. After they scored their first two runs, I just wanted to keep it close and not turn into a five- or six-run inning.

We came out early and scored some runs. But we didn't get totally focused until the fourth inning. We played almost four innings of tough defense against them. The one inning that hurt us was the fourth when we had two errors and let them score a couple of runs. They shouldn't have even scored that inning and they scored three runs.

It was a close game. Fortunately we had that (seventh) inning where we scored some runs and it eases you up a little going into that last inning.

When you score a lot of runs ? and we scored a lot of runs early in the year ? that makes up for a lot of things. It allowed everybody who was going out there to pitch to relax. Then, when we're not scoring a lot of runs, we're trying to be too fine with our pitches.

Give (Habersham Central) credit. They came back out in the sixth inning and scored four runs to flip the momentum, but that just shows how important making plays early in the game is.

He did a hell of a job today. When we scored those four runs in that inning he came back and shut them down. I think he's proud of himself. I think he has the ability to throw strikes whenever he wants.

They were ready to go. They had seven hits and scored four runs in that first inning. I mean, they just wanted it a little more than we did.

We hadn't scored a lot of runs up to this point. We hit the ball hard in the first inning. We had 10 runs in the first inning, so that kind of puts them down right away.

We just didn't pitch in the second game. The big inning killed us again. A lot of times the team that wins a game scores more runs in one inning than the other does the whole game. They scored six in the fifth inning, and we scored six on the day.

When you give up four runs to the Yankees, and it's the third inning at 4-0, the thought crosses your mind that the game could be over. You tell yourself it's over or you try to fight back. I sat in the dugout after the third inning and I had thrown 66 pitches. I felt I had about 40 pitches left, and if I could put up three zeros, we'd still have a chance.

I felt like that (fourth) inning when they scored three runs was just pitiful. We could have done a better job. I felt we played good defense most of the night. But in that one inning it cost us. We gave up three runs there and that's sort of been what's happened to us. We play good baseball but that one inning kills us.

When you have an at-bat like that, it wears the pitcher. It sets the tone. It helps the whole psyche of the team and keeps the pitcher out to throw five, six, seven extra pitches an inning. That adds up. (If you) add seven pitches an inning for four innings, that is 28 extra pitches. Through four innings (Walker) was at 73 pitches.
