Marshall has transformed himself. He put on 20 pounds in the offseason and became a lot stronger. And our coaches are putting him in the position to be successful.

I would like to thank the coaches for putting me in position to be successful. Coach (Ben) Braun, especially, gave me his support on my decision. He has said he's behind me no matter what.

I made a conscious effort to put on 10 pounds this offseason and I didn't lose any speed. I still run a sub-4.4 40 and bench press more than 400 pounds. I just wanted to be more durable.

Eric has been dominant at his position. He's been a really good two-way center who is putting up a lot of numbers and playing with a lot of confidence. But I still think that there is more. He's capable of more. He's still getting stronger. He's going to be a lot stronger at 22 or 23.

He's come a long way from when we first drafted him. He was a young guy coming out of a small school [Alabama-Birmingham]. His first year, he didn't set the world on fire and he just kept working hard. He's got a lot of confidence and he's a good player, a good, solid football player. He's a very, very tough, physical guy at end. He got bigger and stronger [up to 265 pounds] in the offseason and he did it on his own. He was committed to it.

Everyone needs to be playing their best to be on the roster next season. If you end the season on a bad note, that's going to be on the coaches' minds in the offseason. If you can end on a good note, that's going to help you more in the offseason.

And that's the thing that a lot of people don't really get and a lot of you guys (sportswriters) don't understand. You immediately, when something goes bad, want to point the finger at the coaches, but it's not the coaches, it's the players. Right now we're not getting the job done. We're making mistakes and missing plays, things that we control. The coach has no control over what goes on on the field. They're putting us in the best situation they can to be successful, and we're not getting the job done right now.

He's getting better, ... He's 5-10 and 150 pounds. He's gained about 20 pounds since last year, which has made his arm stronger. I think he's making better decisions; we're just hoping to get some consistent play out of him.

On average, they've lost 66 pounds and kept off at least 30 of those pounds for six years. So, this is a very successful group.

The position that opened up happened to be a social studies position. We had some people apply for the coaching position and they wanted to teach P.E. We had some other people apply just for the teaching position. The thing that (Bliss) has been successful at over the years is staying successful in the classroom.

I really don't think there's too much difference that separates us. I think we're all bunched up there together. Some coaches are going to like some people, and other coaches are going to like other guys for other reasons. You just keep putting yourself up there, keep putting yourself in a good situation, and hopefully good things happen.

We played a lot of young kids, especially up front. We won our last two games. Then we got bigger and stronger in the offseason.
